ABOUT

I decided to apply to undertake a senior capstone project during my fifth form (junior) year of high school. The Capstone Program is an opportunity for a sixth form (senior) student to explore an area of study in depth. A capstone course requires students to select five courses that apply somehow to their capstone topic of choice. I chose to take Journalism and Non-fiction Storytelling, The Greening of America (Environmental History), Biology, Video Production, and American Social History in the 20th Century. I think a highlight of the Capstone Program is the freedom it gives to take a multidisciplinary approach to the area you are studying. This an accumulative, multimedia journalistic article using images, data representations, audio, and text to tell a story. I'd like to thank all the teachers and faculty members at Choate who helped me in this research process. Ms. Homan (my faculty advisor to this project), Mr. Davidson, Mr. Peed, Mr. Chang, and Ms. Rampertab. Also, my parents, everyone in Alaska who let me interview them, and professionals who gave me additional information.
